Did anyone else start watching The Gallows Pole last night?

I've started watching it and am about half-way through the first episode.,

I'm not sure about it. Is it worth persevering?

The foul language is rather off-putting, tbh. Plus, there seems to be a very out of place hairstyle that one of the women is wearing.

Any views?

I did - because I liked Shane Meadows's other work.  But I won't be bothering with Episode 2.  Too slow, partly because of the improvised style and partly because of the trippy flashbacks.   Yes - they are all rather too clean, well-fed and well-dressed for impoverished weavers/spinners in 18th century Yorkshire.  The swearing is over the top - even for working-class folk.   Looks like Meadows was a bit inspired by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britannia_(TV_series)  or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Field_in_England
I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested...

The DT review was promising. Got halfway through and decided to pause, not sure I'll return. The language and behaviourisms are straight out of this century IMO, so the entire thing didn't gel for me. Found a nice episode of the black comedy Inside Number 9 instead.

I’ve recorded it. Right now I’m watching taskmaster. I don’t normally like Frankie Boyle as a stand up but he’s quite funny on this - very infectious giggle - and Jenny Eclair is a delight.

Watched "The Blackouts of 1974" last night, very interesting and nostalgic.

I had forgotten just how powerful the trade unions were back then with their relentless demands for vast pay rises every year.  No wonder we lost all of our industry.

Series 3 of Der Pass starts on friday 2am on Sky Atlantic. I really enjoyed the previous 2, so fingers crossed this one's also good.

I've just finished watching an episode of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, from 1994, and one of the characters was, I thought, a very young-looking Hugh Bonneville.

However, when the credits rolled, it appeared it was a Richard Bonneville.

Gosh, thought I, does Hugh have a brother, or a twin? So I looked up Richard Bonneville.

Haha! It appears that when Hugh Bonneville started acting, he took his middle name, Richard, and only later changed to his first name, Hugh.

Mystery solved! ;D

I've now watched all 7 seasons of Bosch (Prime) and loved it. I've moved on to the follow-up, Bosch Legacy (Prime Freevee) and while it's ok it's not as good as the original. I miss the other law enforcement personnel, especially Irv "F***ing Bosch" Irving.

Have just finished What Pauline is not Telling You (All4) which was pretty rubbish, 4 part French subtitled "drama".

Watched first two episodes of "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" last night, so will watch the last one tonight.  Really enjoying it.

I've tried to watch the 7 part BBC French subtitled drama that was on recently, Afterglow. It's about a 40 year old woman who gets diagnosed with cervical cancer. I managed 2 parts but it's really not my kind of thing so it's been deleted.

I've realised that before I had the firestick I used to watch anything available and as the choice was limited I used to watch stuff I had zero interest in. Since getting the firestick I have too much choice so am now watching only the things I WANT to watch.

With that in mind I'm on season 2 of Picard (Prime). While it's not absolutely fantastic it's good enough to hold my attention, not least of all because of all the old stars from Next Generation, Voyager and DS9 that keep popping up. I keep hearing myself saying "Oh my god!" Bailie keeps looking at me like I'm mad  :D

Great to see Jeri Ryan (7 of 9) in more things, she was also in Bosch.

I'm not sure I like seeing old people reprising their roles. Same with the Full Monty remake; I'm not sure about it.

They're not doing the same things, they're all mostly retired and just pop up as a cameo. Nice to see them though, and (for me anyway) nice to see them from across the whole Star Trek stable, all the spin offs.

I didn't like The Full Monty anyway so won't be watching the new one.
